Live example: thermal grid

The map below is drawn by the very updraft-map.js file of the MapLibre quick start. Change the month, time of day or wind direction; the line under the map shows the current address of the thermal source.

• This page carries no key: tiles come from the public path, limited per client address. Use the keyed path in your own application (Authentication).
• Thermal cells are drawn at z8–14 only; they disappear when you zoom out.
• An empty area does not mean "no thermals": only cells where enough distinct pilots flew are shown (Privacy).
• Wind data: Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), ICON-EU, CC BY 4.0; processed with Open-Meteo, derived into wind sectors per flight.
